Lion

Lion

Grosbeak Gallery presents; Lion

The Lion (Panthera leo) is an apex predator native to Africa and India and is one of the most widely recognized species in human culture. Lions are unique because they’re the only big cats to live in social groups called prides. In these groups lionesses do most of the hunting although lions will hunt too. Culturally Lions symbolize courage, strength and power. This is the reason we chose to represent the lion in this piece. Courage means “strength in the face of pain or grief,” which is something baked into the queer experience. It takes a lot of courage to be authentically you.
