Hairy Leg Vampire Bat
Grosbeak Gallery presents: The Hairy-legged vampire bat
This piece is part of the grosbeak gallery: a project dedicated to showcasing the diversity of gender expression, sexuality and connection to the natural world.
I chose to represent the Hairy-legged vampire bat(Diphylla ecaudata). Homosexual behavior has been documented in 22 species of megabats and microbats (Riccucci,2011.) Bats are a social group of mammals that display a number of cooperative behaviors such as grooming and sharing food.
My representation of the hairy-legged vampire bat ties themes of the feminism social movements with the lavender menace shirt and uses colors of the lesbian flag.
